On the afternoon of April 22nd, at the 1304 conference room of the Art College, Professor Yang Maochuan the School of Design of Jiangnan University was invited to give the teachers and students of the Art College the academic lectures on “Thematic Design – Taking the Design Practice and Teaching Outstanding Achievements as an Example”. This lecture is a series of academic lectures on the “Morality and Art” project of Jiangsu University Art College. It is also one of the series of activities of the Art College Teaching Salon. At the beginning of the lecture, Dean Han Rong delivered a speech on behalf of the college. She expressed her warm welcome to Professor Yang Maochuan's visit and briefed Professor Yang on his teaching experience and artistic creation. Professor Yang Maochuan is currently a professor at the School of Design of Jiangnan University, a master's tutor, director of the Department of Environment and Architectural Design, a member of the Academic Subcommittee of Art and Design of Jiangnan University, and concurrently a standing director of the Interior Design Branch of the Architectural Society of China (CIID), No. 36 ( Wuxi) Director of the Professional Committee, the "Asian Design Year Award" full-time judges, the National University of Information Technology Innovation and Practice (NOC) Director Judge, and the Jiangsu Provincial Interior Design Society Vice Chairman.

In the report, Professor Yang cited the issue of what is an emotional object, and discussed the importance of emotional integration in design with the change of the times, and then introduced the research content of the theme design, including the objective facts and the author's subjective understanding and understanding. And evaluation. In the course of teaching, Professor Yang heuristically analyzed the difference between traditional and geographical concepts and emphasized the source of the theme. After that, the lectures were carried out in terms of demand hierarchy, design material, spatial arrangement, exploration and practice. With a bit of face, the lecture talked about the background and social foundation of the theme design development, the specific method of design material extraction and transformation, and the literary concept borrowing background. The spatial association, etc., explains the literary imagery and function of space name, spatial layout, spatial attribute and furnishings art in detail.

In the exploration and practice explanation session, Professor Yang gave a summary of the lecture with his own experience and design results, and introduced the case of “Bird Singing the Forest More Quiet – Two Rivers Hydropower Skills Base Design Interior Design”. He believes that solving the problem needs to grasp the actual situation, and carry out long-term planning through systematic humanities and geography research on the research object and its environment. Finally, through the core of the theme design, it constantly seeks to extract and transform the design material. The method thus makes the design work that impresses people.

Finally, Dean Han Rong summed up this lecture. She pointed out that in the teaching and learning practice, there is an academic cycle ecological chain of “thinking-consolidating-summarizing-discovering”, hoping to pass this academic sharing.
